A Beautiful Koi Pond Transformation in Altoona, PA

Nestled against the mountainside in Altoona, PA, this home has a naturally beautiful setting with plenty of shade and the perfect atmosphere for a peaceful water feature.

The homeowners already had an existing koi pond, but over time, it began to fail and no longer provided the space and depth needed for their growing collection of koi. With the number and size of their fish, it was time for an upgrade!

Our team stepped in to create a beautiful new 11′ x 16′ koi pond, designed to provide the fish with more room to swim, grow, and thrive while complementing the home’s natural surroundings.

One of the most unique elements of this project was an old coal bucket that had been incorporated into the original pond. The homeowners loved this feature, and their koi were already familiar with it, so we wanted to preserve that character. We simply reworked its placement and surrounding stonework to create a more natural, cohesive flow within the new design.

This installation also presented a unique challenge. With the pond situated directly against the house, Ben and his crew had to take extra precautions during excavation and construction. Working in such a tight space required careful planning, precision, and attention to detail to bring the design to life.

The end result is a beautiful transformation that combines the charm of the original pond with the functionality of a thoughtfully designed new water feature. The koi now have a spacious home, and the homeowners have a relaxing outdoor space where they can enjoy the sights and sounds of moving water for years to come.
