Large Water Feature with flagstone in Fort Ashby, WV
Hardscapes
This project was completed for one of our returning clients. A few years ago, we installed a small water feature complete with three bubbling boulders near their garage. So, they came back for more!
There is a steep bank that you see immediately upon pulling into their driveway — and also from every gathering spot in their outdoor space. This slope required constant maintenance and offered nothing visually. The clients wanted something beautiful and low-maintenance.
We transformed that hillside into a natural focal point. We placed massive mountain boulders into the bank and created a cascading water feature that flows down the slope. Surrounding landscaping softens the boulders and blends the feature into the rest of the property, giving it a natural and organic feel.
To make it little more interactive, we installed a small Black Hills natural flagstone patio at the base of the falls. This creates a flat landing area near the driveway — the perfect spot to be close to the waterfalls, listen to the sound of moving water, and enjoy the feature up close.
What used to be a steep, unused bank is now a stunning, low-maintenance water feature that our clients can enjoy from many locations!
We also have two YouTube videos about this project if you’d like to view! Part one and part two.
